ICARE

ICARE

The ICARE Program is an alternative placement class for elementary school students who violate significant safety rules.  The ICARE class also serves as a placement for students who exhibit significant ongoing behavioral problems despite numerous implemented interventions.  The ICARE program is housed here at Brentwood Elementary.

The program provides a very structured, restrictive setting with a lower adult to student ratio.  The students placed in the program are in a self-contained environment with a focus on positive behavior supports.  ICARE utilizes a behavioral and motivational level system designed to provide support to student with behavioral difficulties.  The level system allows for students to earn privileges based on behavior data.  The emphasis is on students taking responsibility for their actions and making appropriate choices for future success.  As the students make behavioral progress, special area classes are introduced into their daily schedule in order to facilitate a successful transition/return back to his/her neighborhood school.

*Please note that in order for a child to be placed in ICARE, the school administrator must make a referral.  Parents cannot choose to place their child into the program.  For questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Angie Harris, Teacher In Charge of ICARE @ 430-7444 or aharris@escambia.k12.fl.us
